Re: Little Girl Films Dad Drowning
Black folk are a lot leaner than us chunker caucasians. We take being more bouyant in water for granted. Might be easy for us to lean back and idly float around, but for them, they'll just sink. |

Re: Little Girl Films Dad Drowning
The most important thing to learn is floating and treading water or dog paddle. When I was first adopted and had a family my new mama took me immediately for swim lessons. I would have been 5 years I think. I never unlearned how to swim, which I thought I might after so many years unused. I hated the butterfly stroke and like the frontward crawl. Anyway to this day I remember the fear and alarm when I was first trying to tread water, I just kept going under. Then suddenly it clicked! If only he could have dog paddled that could have saved him for a little longer. We can't know what was going on there fully but what on earth was the other adult doing, why didn't daughter seek help, was he trying not to scare her? A medical issue? Drowning videos always get me because its so so sudden.

Re: Little Girl Films Dad Drowning
Full disclosure, I didn't actually read past what I quoted. I don't want to give the impression I'm emotionally invested in this dialouge. No "intelligent intellectually" honest person is going to look at an obscure study from the 90s that has a sample size of 26 people and take it seriously. Anyone who has taken a psychology or statistics class in grade school knows you need a sample size of at least 1000 people if you're looking for an accurate representation of a population. You can believe whatever you want, but maybe you should look into what it takes for a pharmaceutical company to put a new drug on the market. Specifically what it takes to even get to the human trial phase. |
