No reason was offered by the sheriff during the arraignment. The sad truth is that killing the judge really isn't doing anything to "protect" his family. It was an act of vengence for something not yet disclosed.
The real damage to the family is going to happen during the civil trial, where a dollar value is going to be established in the judgement which is going to financially decimate his wife. The assets will be attached, his daughter can forget about going to college. He has essentially ruined their lives. If anyone should be trusting the justice system (if a crime really happened) it should be someone in law enforcement.

I'm in law enforcement and if you trust the "justice system", you're an idiot, especially if it's a Judge who you're expecting to be held to account.
