Yep, agreed. He saw it coming and kinda stopped himself from running only to get the full brunt of impact from the car.
I think he died from impacting the tree though, not the car.

I concur that the tree was a huge part of the incident, that triple klutz he did in the air should account for something. I'd like to know how many of his 206 bones were intact at the end.
