Those vivid, orangey flames look really pretty on my new OLED TV

Trapped in the flames by the security bars
Or prison bars.

Why the fuck would you wanna have bars on your windows?

Re: Husband and Wife Burn to Death in Apartment Fire

Sometimes I hate that I bought a second floor condo due to traffic noise but hey, at least if there's a fire I can jump to the ground without dying.
7th story here with no other exits than an elevator and stairs (not the fire escape ones, just the normal stairs you take if the elevator is broken)

Everyday could be my last. I try not to think about it too much. What happens happens I guess.

If you don't care about getting out, no one else is going to care. I would have taken a hacksaw to those bars the day I moved in. No thought about an escape ladder either, apparently.

Exactly my thoughts..

Second time a video of people trapped by their own security bars. Maybe the rest of the community should take notes on that.
Scores of Americans are murdered by assault rifles. Maybe the rest of the community should take notes.

I admit that is a scary situation. But you don't necessarily need a ladder to the ground. An escape later that will let you climb down 1 or 2 stories is enough. I have seen fires on here where if they had had a folding rope escape ladder that was just 10 feet long, they could have gotten down to the neighbors balcony below, and dropped on it, and then gotten out safely. They make very controllable escape ropes that you control your descent with, using a clutch assembly, and you put your feet in stirrups and ride down while controlling how fast you go. A scary ride beats a fiery death.
