Re: Husband and Wife Burn to Death in Apartment Fire
Everything after this part, I don’t believe at all and I dare you to share authoritative statistics to support these ridiculous claims. Yes, thieves have been known to scale high buildings to steal things, but they rarely end in physical harm to the residents. China just doesn’t tolerate that, so it doesn’t occur much. There are other reasons for these bars besides deterring theft. |

Re: Husband and Wife Burn to Death in Apartment Fire
I dont give a flying fuck what you believe, I actually lived for many years in China both as a child and as an adult, until recent years when Chinese currency has gone digital and no one really carry cash anymore, being pick pocketing was rampant. Thieves would go into cabs and rob them at knife point. You ever hailed a cab where the driver sits in a cage? Specially before lunar new year when people are desperate for money for the new years. That has decreased quite a bit since digital currency. Back in the day in Guangzhou, there were police standing on side of the road with long poles... to stop "flying thieves" people on motorcycles that snatch purses and cell phones. Obviously that has mostly dissapeared. Every high rise is full of caged windows and balconies. Thievery was rampant and violence accur frequently when thieves are confronted. You don't have to worry about getting shot because there are no guns, but getting stabbed is quite frequently a possibility. Electronics, jewelery, and cash are the prime target. After covid the economy is bad so expect more crime in the coming year. |

So, anecdotes without any statistics. Color me surprised. Goodbye.
