Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

I suggest you educate yourself before looking like an arrogant dip shit ****** in front of everyone. Blade inertia means nothing when the swash plate can raise and lower the blade tips the same way you adjust an umbrella. So no, at no particular moment is it ever OK to Assume that "Inertia" is holding the blades straight out. Fucking dumbass
I never said the inertia was holding the blades straight

I said, "Also, the blades have so much inertia at that rpm, grazing someone's skull isn't going to make them slow down."

I mentioned that centrifugal force prevents this "blade droop" discussed in previous comments around motionless rotors.

It's also apparent you don't understand the characteristics and mechanical functions of a swash plate assembly. I already addressed why the blades would be lower at the tips. Just a matter of reading comprehension at this point.

... But yeah, go on with your ad hominem campaign. I'm sure that helps your argument.

Pretty sure I addressed one function of the swash plate. It not only changes the uplift of each individual blade, the stationary plate can also rise and lower the actual blade pitch, up and down from the center point. Separate from the forward/ left/ right cycle.

Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

Holy fuck... There's a lot of stupid shit being said in this thread, but your comments are by far the most idiotic. I get most of you haven't been around helicopters, nor understand the physics behind them... But I think even the average layman would have a basic concept for how gravity works... You don't use the rotors to propel you downwards(In this situation). Gravity has a funny way of doing that job for you.

Centrifugal force prevents the blades from hanging down at the tips.
Like i said. That means nothing when you can lower the blade tips manually to maintain ground control in windy conditions.

Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

Don't make sense, how can a blade hit him that low...looks like he was shot.

I would have thought he had no head left after watching that video. Like an exploding watermelon.

Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

That was a sniper shot. There's no way the blades could hit him.

Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

The rotor blades are WELL above his head! How did this happen? I don't think it was a blade strike. I wonder if he was actually shot from a distance?
The pilot pitched the blades forward. Helicopters do that when they plan to roll forward. Tragic.

Re: Hit in the Head by Helicopter

No sniper.
But the curious man approaching the kings corpse seems willing to take a reading on the precise pitch of the blades that lobotomize.
