He is failing to account for other combustibles in a warehouse fire. The shipping packaging of the fireworks themselves including all the plastic they are wrapped in, plastic shelving, computers, chairs, damn near everything is made from synthetic materials that are made from petroleum. Petroleum products burn with thick black smoke. It doesn't take many cars to burn to contribute a sizable amount of thick black smoke. Look at those rental cars that burned in the dry grass field. That had a hug thermal column that was just as black. Military munitions are cleaner explosives that fireworks. Fireworks manufacturers may lose money as he says, but weapons lose effectiveness when the combustion of the explosive material isn't clean by being packed with an oxidizer.
