Fatal Shooting of Suspect in Anaheim, California
Anaheim Police released body-worn camera and helicopter footage detailing a Sept. 28 officer-involved shooting that took place in neighboring Santa Ana. The video details an interaction with 34-year-old B. L. after investigators observed him driving a vehicle that was reported stolen in Anaheim. He also had outstanding warrants for armed robberies, domestic violence and driving on a suspended license. The stolen vehicle is shown attempting to flee marked patrol cars and driving dangerously through parts of Santa Ana and Tustin. The video also shows an ensuing standoff in Santa Ana with the Santa Ana Police Department and later the Anaheim Police Department. After four hours of attempted negotiation, he was fatally shot in an officer-involved shooting involving Anaheim Police. He emerged from the car after police fired gas into the vehicle to force him out and end the hours-long standoff, footage showed he was holding a narrow, black object which officers believed to be a gun. Multiple officers yelled for him to put his hands up, before one officer yelled "Gun! Gun! Gun!" They opened fire. No firearm was recovered from him or inside the vehicle. The black object he was holding was a small Guess bag with an empty, crumpled water bottle inside. He was the cousin of Santa Ana City Council Member Johnathan Ryan Hernandez. The incident remains under review by the Anaheim Police Department, the Santa Ana Police Department and the California Department of Justice. |

~ They ain't taking this one in alive. ~ So his next to last move was a setup to convince police to shoot him & making it look like he had a gun, despite his roll up sheet of warrants for past crimes. |
