Even if we were to ignore the severe brain trauma caused by multiple hard impacts against the sides of the barrel, the centrifugal force alone probably destroyed most of his cerebral cortex. Apparently, there was still enough brainstem function to keep it from being instantly fatal. If was also sickening to watch him unwind. In this case saying that his "ribs were shattered" isn't hyperbole. One could say it's a miracle he made it to the hospital. Unfortunately, I don't think the outcome will be all that miraculous. |
