Cartels are a product of the united states war on drugs. Pot has historically been their bottom crop, they keep their smuggling routes and connections open with it. Then they send harder drugs up that chain for a payout. Legalizing marijuana on a federal level would largely stop all of this. Cant keep the black market open olwith fentanyl and cocain alone. But the law enforcement, the prison system and the dea all need to justify their existence and policy is formed by campaign donations instead of the will of the people or logic. |
