The moped rider probably saw the roadworks ahead so he probably thought to cut that bend and cross the many warning white lines. He probably also thought the excavator would not make that turn as he had clear view of the excavator. (maybe failed to yield). The excavator didn't expect anyone being there and probably didn't see him (too late) because of the lowered bucket arm. Because you can't trust people in traffic to do the proper things like yielding and slowing down for an intersection there's also common sense, following traffic signs and surrounding awareness like the moped rided clearly didn't have. Also the passenger on that second bike didn't wear a helmet probably they're pretty careless about possible dangers in traffic. |

That was not a crosswalk. Also, by your logic, there could always be someone crossing the road at any point, not just at a corner. Someone can walk out in the road in a straightway too. Should we all drive 40k under the limit just in case that happens?

It's not what I'm saying at all. No one should take a turn so quickly without having a clue what's round the corner. Jeez, so many people getting their knickers in a twist!

Clearly markers on the road, the yellow lines to tell you to slow down (you feel the bumps) and the triangle symbol on the floor which means giveway to traffic. Moped guys fault 100%, clearly the guy in the excavator didn't see anybody coming in the opposite direction and took the corner like anybody would, moped guy took the corner like he was on a superbike at IOM TT.  |

Dude on the moped wanted to die. Clearly could see him cross onto the wrong land and place himself in the way of the excavator. What an asshole.
