I highly doubt that was an accidental discharge. Looks to me like he played it off as accidental to help his family with guilt. There are a few too many "tells" to believe he wasn't working himself up to it.

Yeah.. and the way he carried the magazine before loading it, there's no way he didn't know that there was a bullet in it. A brass colored bullet would stand out against a black magazine.
