Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
This man was disturbed and clearly didn't handle his problem very well. I am an OIF veteran and there are a million more vets out there from many different wars who, although not without mental issues, are doing just fine. Don't generalize and lump in the the entire American public over this one man. You wouldn't want me to pick one person from your country to represent your entire culture.

Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
I totally agree with you. Once that gun is in his hands and especially when he sees it being loaded, it's go time. But, just like the military, the police have been so saturated with rules of engagement and deadly force application (more specifically the consequences for making a mistake) that they sometimes hesitate. This coupled with him being such a relatively new deputy with little experience played against him here in the worst way.

Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
How is it that we "produced" this "monster"? We didnt train him to jump out of his truck and shoot police officers with his rifle... If he'd never joined/got drafted for nam, would he still be capable of this? the answer is yes, we didnt make him do it, he made himself do it... A kid i went to highschool with died in a police shootout (suicide by cop) he jumped out of his truck after a highspeed chase and started shooting at 2 officers and lost, he was never in the military... Name was justin lake, you dont have to serve in the military to be capable of killing people... |
