Re: Corvette Z06 Show Off Pays the Price.

in dry weather, unless the tyres are worn down to the canvas, bald tyres are better than brand new ones

the only reason tyres have tread (and therefore less surface area) is to dissipate standing water on the road, which in turn means the tyre is directly on the road, and not water

without tread, they have more surface area and therefore more grip - hence why racing cars use slick tyres

it is hard to tell from the video, but it almost looks like only one wheel was spinning which is surprising . . . still a dick move even if it was mechanical, but the lack on tread on the tyres would not have caused the accident
You don't actually know s*** do you. Bald tires do not a set of racing slicks make.

By the time a tire gets bald it's old and worn out and hard as f***. Even a brand new set of knobby mud terrains is going to have better grip.

Re: Corvette Z06 Show Off Pays the Price.

Some people in here talking about tires and performance cars and probably own a fucking Toyota Corolla. You have to know when to let off the pedal when you have a powerful car. It’s something you feel. A lot of people don’t have that feel and this is what happened. This guy clearly wasn’t a good driver.

Haha, sorry man, gotta call B.S. on this.

There's several reasons, but believe me, treaded tires that are worn bald never have more grip because they're bald. Ever.

But, the guy just lost control regardless, blaming the tires is just an excuse for an out of control jackass.

Re: Corvette Z06 Show Off Pays the Price.

I wasn't even sure the folks talking about The Office (Ed Helms and Rashida Jones) even registered that there was an accident. Neither gasped, cussed or stopped their conversation.......strange. Wasn't until the dude said he was calling that I realized it wasn't their radio....lol

Re: Corvette Z06 Show Off Pays the Price.

You would think it would have some sort of traction control to stop that sort of thing happening, wouldn't you...

almost certainly did, but fancy cars always have the button option to turn off traction control especially cars like this. responsible people take these types of cars to closed race courses that have public ride days and thats where you turn off the traction control and get jiggy with it.

idiots turn off the traction control on public roads and drop gears and floor it.

source: me (and lots of riding my motorcycle at closed race courses and talking with the guys that show up in their fancy ass cars and do just what i described above)
