Re: Corn Vendor Fatally Struck by Loose Tractor-Trailer Wheel
That was actually a joke. There was a long-running commercial in the 1970's, when American became aware that Native Americans had actually been here first, and white people started showing how sensitive they were. People in the ad kept talking about corn, and then a Native American chick dressed in full regalia would come on and say, "My people call it Maize!" as if they were really paying homage to the people they had run out of town. She was probably not even a real Indian, just some black person they hired because she looked right. So now, whenever anyone talks about corn, I pop up with that line. Some people get it and laugh, and some are just puzzled by it. Eventually, I'll die (Maybe in an accident that gets shown on DR!) and then I won't crack that stupid joke anymore. And Indians will be glad I'm finally dead. BOTH KINDS. |

They don't wear out so fast, if you keep them in a bag in the glove compartment! His set was chromed, and he wasn't going to risk getting them all scratched up. |

Jesus f-ing Christ- great to see all the helpers coming to the aid of the poor bastard. “Oh shit, whoa what was that? Oh, just a street vendor getting run over by a tire- nevermind- nothing to see here.” |

Yeah people don't realise just how much they weigh - a dual wheel and tyre assembly from a lorry is between 120 - 200kg, depending on the size of the vehicle |

Re: Corn Vendor Fatally Struck by Loose Tractor-Trailer Wheel
I was wondering if they were going to mark the corn down, but hey, tortillas sound like the perfect salvage for all of the mushy corn, and they'd almost get all the corn back in pure profit.

Re: Corn Vendor Fatally Struck by Loose Tractor-Trailer Wheel
The equivalent for me is "Ooooh, it does get in!" which, fortunately, is far more prone to misuse than a corny comment about maize. I'm not so sure about that. Some habits are hard to break. We've seen the hearts of dead people not realising it's all over and continuing to beat while sitting on the road. I can imagine you cracking jokes post-mortem. |
