I thought the same thing until I saw the bar fell in the rack and was stuck. So even if he had no clips on the end the bar was stuck. Terrible design. And was he lifting in an empty gym? Plenty of time for someone to come and get the bar off of him. Good grief. Never lift in an empty gym without a spotter! As soon as he saw he wasn’t gonna lift it, push one side so the bar and weights slide off. Senseless death. |

No. They would only slide if one side was stronger then the other and caused the bar to tilt. Never lift more then you can handle without spotters or knowledge of what to do when this starts to happen. Tilt the bar to one side and left the plates slide off.

I just want to point out that I have never used clips when hoisting a Hostess Cupcake, no matter how much it weighed, and that Hostess Cupcakes have a PERFECT safety record of no deaths, even in China.  Also, his former girlfriend is now available for dating. |
