Re: China - Student Who Just Graduated Jumps To His Death
It's worse than that, actually. China is also facing a rapidly aging population, of over 300 million old people, who have to be taken care of. The medical costs alone will be astronomical. They all have to be fed as well. And all this on the backs of a rapidly dwindling working population. Japan has a similar situation now, but Japan's economy is much stronger than China's and like Europe's, is much better organized. There are going to be a LOT of disgruntled Chinese citizens in the next few years. |

Western folks? You mean US folks. Shootings are pretty rare in Western Europe. Well except for the occasional *** nog or camel jockey liquidating one another, but that's actually a win instead of a loss.

Re: China - Student Who Just Graduated Jumps To His Death
Yup, it sucks to be an Asian and having to live up to the immense societal and familial expectations put upon you, not to "lose face" by doing anything less than becoming a CEO, famous architect or lawyer. Yes in the Western world it's still common for there to be expectations, especially those who are born in the higher social circles, but at least in much of the Western world a lot more emphasis is placed on doing something that makes you happy instead of having an impressive career, which probably explains why the suicide rates in East Asia are so insanely high.
