I used to perform hydrostatic tests on fire dept equipment, SCUBA tanks, acetelyne tanks ect. That was definately a compressed gas bottle bursting. You can clearly see it off gassing. If it was CNG or propane I'm surprised there was no fire after. They should be tested and certified every 5 years. It's Russian roulette after that. Especially when a bottle is subjected to comstant shocks and jolts such as being mounted in an automobile or transported often.

Also, not how quickly the post explosion flame died out just as one would expect for a gas fire when the fuel is expended.
