Re: California - Man Gets Shot at Street Takeover
In Tucson, they started identifying and impounding cars. It's a LOT harder to do a street takeover when you only have your "Ked's, with the Action Wedge!" shoes on your feet. People's cars started to disappear at work, or they just got stopped and the car was towed, leaving them to walk to work or school. Cops didn't care who was driving them or where they were going. Car goes on the back of a truck and disappears. See the judge to get your car back. After explaining EXACTLY WHO WAS DRIVING your car. |

Nothing like heading to the ol' street takeover with your homie riding shotgun with the weapon and his child safety door lock still enabled.

Hey, CA is a sanctuary state so it's, "El estado de la caca."

Re: California - Man Gets Shot at Street Takeover
Thanks for the explanation! The shooting was not justified, but its pretty dumb to be going out and creating trouble with random strangers in a country where so many people carry guns. Especially approaching a car, starting an argument, opening a door - the occupants would rightly feel threatened. I'm not a fan of guns but in that situation I'd have no issue with someone who presented a firearm in response to that threat. But when the threat runs away you can no longer justify shooting. Very interesting question is why someone was sitting in the car with a firearm, esp a long gun, in the first place. Looking for trouble, seeking out takovers? Another question - has this been covered in news yet? (I saw earlier comments in this thread about not being able to find any). If not, I would start to wonder if this was a set-up for social media - guy in car with gun loaded with blanks, etc. Sigh, kids. In my day we threw eggs at cars ... |

Re: California - Man Gets Shot at Street Takeover
There really isn't much evidence of an actual takeover in progress. It could be that the shooting prevented it from happening. Unfortunately, without the takeover, the shooting probably wouldn't be considered to be newsworthy. |
