A former military policeman, identified as André d.S.A., was shot dead outside his residence on Ilha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro, on Monday morning (7).

According to witnesses, the victim had just opened the gate to leave the house in order to walk the dogs, when hooded men in a car drove up shooting.

In 2020, André had been arrested by the Internal Affairs Division of the Military Police in Niterói, along with six other suspects. At the time, the Federal Police seized a Glock 9mm pistol in his car, as well as two backpacks containing R$ 257,000 (US$46,760) in cash. Internal Affairs also found notebooks with notes and records of revenue from illegal gambling machines, a Military Police badge, a balaclava, and a pair of black gloves.

That was really interesting how it all played out. He dropped immediately after being shot, tossed his phone at the one guy, woman comes out and with no concern for her own safety tries to run them off. The rest of it plays out and done.
In those split seconds, and under great duress people do things they wouldn’t do without being in those situations. They wouldn’t even dream of trying to hold off a guy in a mask with a live firearm who’d just shot your partner. Fucking crazy life we’re living..
