Re: BRAZIL | Sewage Worker Tossed by Explosion
Yes. Methane can come in from the sewer system. Some plants will also treat the raw sewage in anaerobic tanks, creating the methane on-site. My guess is a motor switched on to trigger the boom.

Re: BRAZIL | Sewage Worker Tossed by Explosion
That's a heavy cost to pay in order to not have to return to a fucked up job the next day - hell maybe he liked his job and if so, don't feel sorry for him, he died doing what he loved lol

Re: BRAZIL | Sewage Worker Tossed by Explosion

Re: BRAZIL | Sewage Worker Tossed by Explosion
According to the bombeiros the explosion occured in the anaerobic reactor. For a biogas composed of 60% methane and 40% carbon dioxide, the range of biogas concentrations in the air necessary to reach the explosive range is between 8.5 and 20.7. He was moving something with his foot just before the explosion. Maybe a metal lid. Cláudio Cardoso de Oliveira was married and leaves behind a wife and two children. The local community was dismayed by the incident, mourning the loss of a worker known for his dedication and commitment. |
