Three Workers Die As Cellar Wall at Under-Construction Hotel Collapses
Hyderabad, Telangana, India The cellar of an under-construction hotel collapsed during foundation work on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of three workers. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to a private hospital for treatment. The deceased were all from the same family - 50-year-old Veeraiah, and his son and nephew - 21-year-old Ramu and 20-year-old Vasu, respectively. According to police and locals, around 10 workers were engaged in excavation when the mud boundary suddenly caved in, trapping some of them under the debris. Earthmoving equipment was used to remove around two tonnes of soil and extricate the bodies. An investigation is under way to determine if there were any lapses that resulted in the collapse. It is believed that moisture had built up on the cellar wall, rendering it unstable. |

The rescuers went back in to the kill zone to extract the bodies and injured with no shoring or boxes. |
