if you watch at 28:19 right before they scream you can see the artificial horizon go almost 90 degrees in one second, almost as if a hug gust of wind came out of nowhere, there was no noise so it probably didn't hit anything, I wouldn't be surprised if they were almost upside down at one point.

Exactly, I’m an airplane pilot, not rotor but I saw what you saw. Plus sounds like the stall horn going off. Must be the typical IMC stall spin senario.

If the pilot had read the instruments correctly he could’ve gotten trough that mist. Seems like a semi-advanced helicopter.
