Re: Brazil - Bride Killed in Helicopter Crash on Way to Wedding.
From the bride's facial expressions, she was evidently feeling nausious for a while before the crash, probably due to turbulence. The low cloud could have caused carburetor icing, which may have resulted in engine failure, low rotor rpm and the stall alarm at the end. A series of bad decisions in a very lightweight R44.

Here's another more complete version. Strangely, this video is formatted slightly different with a wider (and better, more revealing) camera angle than the original. |

Re: Brazil - Bride Killed in Helicopter Crash on Way to Wedding.
It looks to me like it was pure pilot error. I captured a sequence of screenshots just before the crash. Look at the attitude indicator. The helicopter is in a steep pitch to the right as well as being pitched upward. Just look at the screenshots one after the other and it looks like he just stalled it out and it dropped out of the sky.

Re: Brazil - Bride Killed in Helicopter Crash on Way to Wedding.
I found an even clearer video of this incident. This is third one I've seen and it seems to be in even better resolution. Watch this one at .25 speed right at the time linked below and pay close attention to the instruments. It's very clear from the instrument panel what happened. It could also be that his rotor clipped a tree or something, given the steep pitch to the left just before the crash. edit: DR doesn't seem to be noticing the time stamp parameter of this URL. Odd. Anyway, the time to watch is at 28m7s. Things go terribly wrong at exactly 28m20s. Watch the attitude indicator abruptly change at that point in time. |

Re: Brazil - Bride Killed in Helicopter Crash on Way to Wedding.
Why the fuck would you fly into thick fog/rain/clouds in a heli? Seems like a pretty stupid thing to do. It's not like there was a sudden fog storm. |
