Re: Booom. Aaaauch ;D
This video should be a PSA (Public Service Announcement) for prime time television for a "Don't Play With Fireworks, Folks!" campaign. It's perfect for general public consumption - not too gory but extremely graphic , horrifying, pounding its point across with a bang, not a whimper (but with a definite bit of a scream). I remember when I blew off a quarter stick in a public park late at night. My knees got all shaky just before because I knew I was messing with something that could cause me GRAVE bodily harm like what happened here. His problem was he didn't respect The God of Boom. He dissed him with his caviler attitude and holding it in his hand. When I lit off the M-80, I carefully laid it down on the ground, lit the fuse, and ran like Hell. This kid ran too but he did it all wrong, in the wrong sequence. |

Re: Booom. Aaaauch ;D
An orthopedic surgeon showed me x-rays of hands blown apart and off from home made pipe bombs or big firecrackers. I guess these injuries are more common than you would think, this was about 1980. M-80s go 'boom', the silver ones give a bigger 'boom' and leave a 1 inch wide divot missing from a concrete sidewalk. I guess we will never know what "Aaaauch" kid in this video exploded, but I am guessing home grown. One mistake people make is screwing iron end caps onto an iron pipe filled with powder or matchheads, the iron sparks and WHAMMO! The term in the 1960's and 70's for kids playing with matchheads, rocket engines, black powder ect. was 'basement bombers', but if you said that now you would probably get investigated for terrorism. |
