Re: Bodycam Footage Deputy Shooting of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois
I didn’t know boiled water was lethal and also able to be thrown at a speed faster than a bullet |

Re: Bodycam Footage Deputy Shooting of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois
Even if her intent was to throw boiling water on them, all he had to do was back up. From the video, I wouldn't feel threatened by a pot of boiling water from some small woman. It's simple, just turn and run if necessary. There was no need for deadly force.

Re: Bodycam Footage Deputy Shooting of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois
“I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” Because she asked him where he was going, and he continued backing up in the living room and he snapped, “AWAY from you and your pot of hot water.” perceived that she was being set up cuz sociopath psychoPig wanted a bloodbath. She said I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. And he said “you had better fucking not!” Gun was whipped out at light night speed and pointed at her by now as he continued, “I will shoot you right in your fucking face!!!!!” Saying that guaranteed premeditated murder (1st degree). Textbook example of a sociopath. No empathy. No remorse. No conscience. Etc. And his reaction, which was beyond insane, makes it clear why she was rebuking him in the name of Jesus….he was a demon posessed maniac who walked into the house w/ his camera OFF on purpose, kept trying to escalate the situation, looking for anything to use against her, then sent her to the water pot so they didn’t “have a fire” and proceeded to call that HER threatening HIM. |

Re: Bodycam Footage Deputy Shooting of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois
If she had complied and hadn't messed with the cops she would be alive end of story. She escalated the whole situation. Would anybody just throw scalding water at a cops thinking they won't use lethal force? I mean come on...

Re: Bodycam Footage Deputy Shooting of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois
Sean Grayson, the former Sangamon County sheriff's deputy, was sentenced on Thursday to 20 years in prison after he was convicted in October 2025 of second-degree murder for the July 2024 fatal shooting of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who called 911 to report a possible intruder at her home in Springfield, Illinois. Judge Ryan Cadagin said that Grayson will also have a two-year mandatory supervised release and will receive credit for time served. Summer Massey, Sonya Massey's daughter who was 15 when her mother was fatally shot, told reporters that she was "grateful" that Grayson received the maximum sentence. “I'm thankful for all the love and support that everybody has came out and shown and I'm grateful that we got the maximum sentence that we could," she said. "Twenty years is not enough, but ... they did what they could do.” Grayson spoke ahead of his hearing and apologized to Massey's family. "I wish there was something I could do to bring her back. I wish this didn't happen. I wish they [Massey's family] didn't have to go through this experience. I am very sorry," he said. Addressing the judge, Grayson acknowledged that he "made a lot of mistakes" on the night Massey died. "There were points when I should've acted, and I didn't -- I froze. I made terrible decisions that night. I'm sorry," he said. Massey's mother, Donna Massey, and children delivered victim impact statements ahead of the sentencing. "Today, I'm afraid to call the police in fear that I might end up like Sonya," Donna Massey said. Also: |
