No, it is not pointless, the point is that they are recording but there will be no incriminating visible evidence if they are on the wrong, it is no coincidence that ALL cops wear their cameras that way.

Not always. In most situations yea, but some ppl take rounds then rally and fight/kill before going down the final time. I think though the hand cuffing is protocol, although overkill most times. No pun intended.
