Body Camera Footage Released After LMPD Officers Shot and Killed Armed Suspect
The Louisville Metro Police Department has released body camera video of an incident Monday morning when an officer fatally shot a suspect. LMPD Chief Steve Conrad says three officers were responding to a domestic dispute at an apartment on Broadleaf Drive about 1:30 a.m. Monday off Cane Run Road near Crums Lane. Conrad says the video is very graphic and clearly shows a man losing his life, but he also says there's also still a need for an investigation. "Even with the release of body camera footage, you need to understand that a thorough and complete investigation is required to understand exactly what occurred," he said. Conrad says the man came out of the apartment armed with a knife and what he called a, "large curved bladed object," that may have been a tree saw or a machete. Officers told him to drop his weapons, but instead, the man allegedly charged the officers. Chief Conrad says two officers shot the man to protect their lives. The man died at the scene. Friends of the suspect say it was all a misunderstanding. "He wasn't a disrespectful person," said a woman who identified herself as Lashauna. "He was a real good guy. He was hard of hearing in one ear so what I'm hearing is that maybe he wasn't hearing everything they were saying or whatnot." The three officers involved have been identified as Taylor Banks, Brian Smith and Beau Gadegaard. All three officers were wearing body cameras. Banks and Gadegaard were put on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. Smith will be treated as a witness. |

Only a cop would shoot somebody ten times in the head and then handcuff them. Its like they think its a taser or something. they dont seem to get, when you shoot somebody, they die, Barking orders isnt gonna work anymore.

It upsets me that their body cams are not upward, but lowered down. If they are not going to wear them properly they don't need to wear them at all. I am all aware of how to record a "situation" happening in the prison system and it's just not right. Voice commands are taught to be given at all times... even when they are dead. And they never die on the prison grounds.

What is the point of these bodycams? You would think they'd be pointed in a general direction of the view the cop has, not aimed at the ground. BOTH of them were aimed down at the ground. Kinda pointless if you ask me.  |

And heeeeeeeeeere comes BLM... goddamned. And then they fucking cuff the poor bastard after pumping like 15 shots into his ass! What a fucking joke. These Criminals (cops) just want to get their badge of merit stating: "Yes I've killed someone in the line of Duty". Bullshit. They should NOT attack unless fucking attacked.
