Re: Biker Helmet Cam: Perfect Reason Why You Shouldn't Speed Like an Asshole
I've been riding for 20 years. Learned on dirt bikes, which I think is the best way to learn to ride. So much bike and throttle control you just can't learn on a street bike. Unless you don't mind wrecking your bike. Alot less dangerous way to learn to ride. Things like tank slappers, hitting big bumps you weren't expecting, going to fast into a corner, being bounced so hard you're barely on the bike, or hitting debris or ruts. All things you never want to experience on the road. Happen all the time racing around on trails or tracks. You learn how to deal with them. I'm not saying I would have missed that van. But I've been in that situation many times, where I'm about to crash into something or have crashed into something. I got the broken bones to show for it. I think learning the way I did makes me a better rider. Because I've done evasive maneuvers, I don't freak out when confronted with having to make a decision quickly. Obviously just being a responsible rider is best. The best rider in the world can still wreck if they don't be responsible. |

Re: Biker Helmet Cam: Perfect Reason Why You Shouldn't Speed Like an Asshole
100%, street riding does NOTHING to help your dirt game, but dirt bikes will really help on the street. This is proven fact as many Superbike and Moto GP riders started riding dirt bikes as practice. I've been riding sportbikes 20 years, dirt 16. My street ability SOARED after getting good in the dirt. My first dirt bike was a Honda CR500 so I had a steep learning curve! Dirt bikes absolutely inoculate you to life and limb, split second, decision making. The life you save, will be your own... |
