Re: Biker Dies After 60 FT Fall in Head-on Crash with Tired SUV Driver
How is there crash sounds at the moment of impact? And on both cameras? Maybe edited or something?

I hate to say it but I don't think the rider was really paying much attention either. I did not see him try any evasive maneuvering whatsoever, it doesn't even look like he reached for his brake. If I saw something like that coming my way I'm doing a hard core emergency swerve to the inside, crossing my fingers I can keep her up or laying her down and sliding if I can't. Either way I think is better than a head on, cliff or no cliff.

I would have to guess that the sound from the dash cam was the true crunch and whoever added the surveillance video edited in that crunch for effect.

Re: Biker Dies After 60 FT Fall in Head-on Crash with Tired SUV Driver
Some people's "OH SHIT" moments last longer than others'. You can see him get closer and closer to the guardrail until he has nowhere left to go. You have to be mentally prepared to jump into the opposing lane if something like this happens, assuming that lane is otherwise clear. I drive through the sticks every day, and part of me is *ALWAYS* waiting for something like this to happen every time I do, for the entire trip. I know that a person can only do so much under the circumstances, but chance will always favor the prepared mind. Of course, I also meet chance halfway by vowing to never get on a motorcycle. No hate on those who do as long as they wear their damn helmets, but my luck is too shitty for me to justify taking such a risk for myself. |
