When the top of the head come off, the helmet seems to come off, too.

That's hardly a lid it's one of those piss pot half lids that fly off as soon as there is any frontal impact, I bet the strap would have snapped his neck alone they should be banned.

This is happening constantly in Asia. A couple of acquaintances were killed just this year in Thailand on bikes. No helmets.

People seem to think they are immune because they are on holiday. Soooo many people die over there on the roads, it's extremely dangerous. Rental bikes are often not maintained, and not only that, most peoples travel insurance won't cover them if they do crash and survive.

I've gone on a bike in Vietnam a few times, and in hindsight it was silly. I wouldn't do it again.
