No matter how many times I see this clip, it always leaves me feeling sick, and cold. Not because it's any more gruesome than any other gore clip. But because of the entire environment. Hundreds of people, families with kids, all there to enjoy the show, have a nice day, and then for many of them, to watch their family be ripped to shreds, literally. To know that there are kids out there that parents would have to see shredded, and vice versa, just leaves me feeling empty.

This is always one of my favorite clips and I watch it every time it gets bumped towards the front. It amazes me the amount of carnage a fighter jet will do when plowing into a crowd of people.

It's amazing that the pilot(s) were able to bail out in time....what I was thinking was part of the air show must have been engine failure...or whatever.....great clip.

That was some of the most amazing and horrifying clips ive ever seen. Damn! It looked like alot of kids were killed. Does anyone know if it was pilot or aircraft error?

Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma publicly blamed the military for the disaster and dismissed the head of the air force, Volodymyr Strelnykov. The defense minister Volodymyr Shkidchenko sent in his resignation, but it was rejected by Kuchma.

On June 24, 2005, a military court sentenced pilot Volodymyr Toponar and co-pilot Yuriy Yegorov to fourteen and eight years in prison, respectively. The court found the two pilots and three other military officials guilty of failing to follow orders, negligence and violating flight rules. Two of the three officials were sentenced to up to six years in prison, and the last official received up to four years. In addition, Toponar was ordered to pay 7.2 million hryvnia ($1.42 million; €1.18 million) in compensation to the families, and Yegorov another 2.5 million hryvnia. The crew's main flight trainer was acquitted for lack of evidence.

While the pilots were assigned the majority of the blame, which included accusations of attempting maneuvers that they were not experienced with, Toponar had requested an additional training flight at the airfield where the display was to be performed; this request was denied.

After the verdict was announced, Toponar said he planned to appeal, insisting the crash was due to technical problems and a faulty flight plan.

Notice the part which reads that the pilot had requested an additional training flight at the airfield where the disaster occurred. That is never a good sign, it indicates that the pilot for some reason is NOT fully confident with that airfield. Hard to say whether that additional training flight could have spared the lives of 77 people, impossible to find any good reason why the request was denied. This was the worst airshow accident in history.
