I agree, my father was a fireman for 50 years and the latter part of that he was the fire chief. He would take the chiefs vehicle home and respond to any and all calls that needed his assistance even if it was 3 am, etc.. He was a better fireman at his age of 68 than many of the seasoned firemen half his age. The ONLY thing that stopped him was getting cancer at 68 and it ended up taking his life. Even after being diagnosed with cancer he didn't feel self pity and still responded to every call until he was bed ridden 4 weeks before death. If you love something enough age can't keep you from it. So yeah if that officer loved his job so be it.
