What the fuck are you talking about? There was no restraint needed. It's not normal for people to assault each other after a car accident. Normal people check to ensure nobody is hurt, and exchange insurance information and then carry on with your day. There is no need to expect someone is going to sucker punch you like that. And there is certainly no need for the cop to be aggressive in an effort to prevent escalation. Being adult normally means you are a little more mature than that.....oh wait....this is in America? Nevermind. Ignore my entire post. In America you really should open fire immediately because you will likely be murdered if you don't shoot first.

The cop was a legend in my mind for doing what he loved and protecting people, In his picture he hardly looked frail - the guy who killed him was scum, but if he decked a younger man who's to say if it would have killed him~

Another good example however or an officer exercising restraint and being killed because of it - who throws a punch at a patrol man? If he had been subsequently shot by a bystander or something would it be down to racism I wonder. (Apologies if he was off duty at the time I may have missed that/misunderstood)

Young men are killed all the time from coward punches. Doesn't matter how young you are, or how strong you are, if a punch catches you off guard and you bounce your head off the concrete there's a very good chance you'll get brain damage at a minimum.

Very reckless. Cops have insurance that covers shit like that. Cities can pay out in the event of a lawsuit arising from harm to the public resulting from such actions. But for most motorists, no insurance policy in the world would cover any damages resulting from someone using their vehicle like that. Good way to get sued.

Everyone has a cell phone now. Wanna play hero in a situation like that? Get on the phone to 911 and follow the perp as much as you can without having to put yourself or anyone else in danger. Relay the important info and keep the dispatcher updated as to location and hope the cops show up quick enough to do the job.

No point in being a hero if you're just gonna cause more damage. That's a good way to get your ass kicked by Batman. Superman had to learn that the hard way.
