As far as the whole hissy-fit thing by the parents at the end, have you guys never seen videos of various Asians publicly mourning? It's a common thing to be overly dramatic about it. It looks ridiculous to Westerners but in their culture, basically the louder and more obnoxious you are, the more "sincere" it is. Trust me... I dealt with that shit for years before leaving.

Not really man, I'd be flopping and flapping on the floor like that too if one of my kids did that. It's natural as a parent to want them to "Grow Up". And with the older generations, video gaming sometimes seems like a waste of life to them. Probably said some shit (in which he'd likely have taken back if the son had not shot himself over it) in which he regrets and likely was just in the moment of heated argument.
