Simplified chronology: The victim's friend was having an argument with the two suspects. He was trying to intervene, to stop them from having a fight. The suspects then go home, took 4 machetes and get back to the campus to kill him. |

OK, so... people clear out, buddy gets attacked. Then after a little, people come by to help....nooooo wait they clear out like a bunch of cockroaches then ONE person comes by to help and all of a sudden EVERYONE comes running out as if to say "I was about to do that" or something... WTF?

It's called the "Bystander effect" or "Bystander Apathy". The first documented case was when Kitty Genovese was murdered while repeatedly calling out for help and neighbors witnessing the whole incident from beginning to end, but nobody helped because they assumed that others would do it. Otherwise also formerly known as the "Genovese Syndrome".
