Memory doesn't serve you well. A standard 2-3/4" 00 buck shell holds 12 pellets, and a tactical 00 load holds 9 pellets. The spread of those pellets is largely determined by the type of gun they're fired from, and whether or not the gun is choked. ;)

I remember this video from several years ago. Even in context, I never understood what this guy did to deserve being shot in the chest point blank. He was unarmed, choking, and blinded from tear gas. :-/

I think they were all being held hostage and they were escaping. The cop just panicked and shot an innocent victim! He did not survive. He bled out in about 20 seconds. Sad really.
