Re: 00 Buck to the Sternum
My guess is that it was 00 shot. It really doesn't matter, though. At that range, any type of shot or slug is completely devastating. Also, people have wrong ideas about shotgun patterns. Essentially, there is Zero spread at that range. All the shot is still 'bunched up' in a group with a 'pattern' that is about an inch in diameter. |

Re: 00 Buck to the Sternum
ya know, if you're gonna try and correct someone in such a cocky way, maybe you ought to get your facts straight. a 2-3/4 00 buck shotgun shell holds nine pellets. a 3" 00 buck holds 15 pellets. theres no such thing as a "tactical" 2- 3/4 00 buck shell, and i've never heard of any 00 buck shotgun shell that holds 12 pellets. and theres no sense in arguing with me because i'm holding a box of remington 2- 3/4 00 buck shells in my hand now relaying the info.

Re: 00 Buck to the Sternum
LOL and more LOL "00 Buck to the Sternum, Faces of Death Video" I think it was titled like that just trying to make it sound more catchy and dramatic. I was expecting some expert explaining to us how the sound of the blast indicated with great accuracy the amount of pellets and their degree of spread by doing some fourier transforms on each propagated sound wave or something of that sort |

Re: 00 Buck to the Sternum
Different companies make different loads. The terminology is most often for marketing purposes, generally with no industry standardization. Regular, Magnum, Double Magnum and...yes..."Tactical" loads. Then, of course, you also have different lengths of shells. A "Tactical" load is simply a 'downloaded' shell. It has been found by many SWAT and other elite Tactical teams that the recoil of standard 12 gauge shells was unnecessarily harsh and adversely effected 'second shot' capability. For close quarters work, a 'downloaded' shot shell would still be devastating and the reduced recoil would allow the Tactical team members to be back 'on target' in less time than with shells that produced greater recoil. Tactical teams live or die not always in seconds, but very often in split seconds. The reduced recoil of "Tactical" shot shells gains the team members an advantage that can mean live or death to that team member. I have shot many "Tactical" 12 gauge loads and much prefer them for home defense. Noticeably less recoil, but still plenty of power. |
