Diabetic with poor circulation leading to endema of lower extremities and necrosis that the maggots are feasting on.

She has little to no feeling down there and why she tolerated it. Also that's why diabetics lose limbs.

They just eating the dead skin, this used to be a memdical treatment.
It still is a medical treatment. But:

1) Not all maggot species are beneficial. Some are destructive to healthy tissue.

2) Maggots used in medicine are sterile and raised in a controlled, hygienic environment.

True. I've never used maggots on a patient, but on one occasion a patient did have leeches prescribed. Was a very unique experience.
