Re: Wet Wipes Provide Lifelong Eczema

Just looked at some impetigo victims but it looks more like a combo because impetigo is more spotty where eczema is more a grid'd pattern or maybe it's caused by the methylisothiazolinone.
Ya, you are right. It just looks a little green and crusty for eczema.

Re: Wet Wipes Provide Lifelong Eczema

Thank goodness I only use wet wipes for quick-cleans of my Doc Martens these days.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Wet Wipes Provide Lifelong Eczema

There might be something to this, at least from my experience. My wife used these sort of wipes on my son's face when he was a toddler. It was a quick and easy way to get the sticky little bugger mopped up after meals or snacks.

Well, not surprisingly, he had mild eczema on his cheeks quite a bit. So after working with our doctor, we started using only hypo-allergenic-type products for everything that came in contact with his skin. We stopped using those wipes on his skin, and I inherited the stock of wipes (which is how I initially got stocked-up on them as boot-cleaning rags.) After about 6-months, we didn't have any more problems with the eczema.

We just switched the entire family to using hypo-allergenic products and he never had any more skin problems. (He's a teenager now, so I think we dodged the eczema-for-life bullet there.) But this thread has me wondering if it was those damned wet-wipes that were giving him eczema the whole time.

Might since it was only banned 10 years ago.

Re: Wet Wipes Provide Lifelong Eczema

This must be some kind of bacterial infection or something like that. True eczema is an immune disorder, not a topical skin infection.
