some women are scared or embarrassed to talk to anyone, including a doctor, about their lady bits. i had a patient ask once, while being cathed, if it and the vagina were the same hole. women don’t always know their own bodies because it is “nasty”, “dirty” or anything else stupid like that to talk about.

35 years ago I worked in a clinical pathology lab, processing tissue samples, doing the aptly named gross-examinations. One night there was uterus from a 35 year old, married and sexually active woman, who btw used tampons. So, she had a fair bit of opportunity to notice if something was off. The reason for surgery was a cervical polyp, discovered on her first "well woman" exam in about 5 years. It was bigger than an average grapefruit, but smaller than a cantaloupe. Drove home the point for me that people may simply not notice (or maybe just ignore) things. |

Happens quite often, result from healed inflammation. Treatment is estrogen cream, saw a girl with this when I worked in pediatric office as medical assistant.
