Re: Syphilis Part 2
Haha, damn that's a really good idea. It's like a win/win/win situation. No need for makeup, they get paid so they can have their medical bills fixed. And it's not like anyone else would hire them anywhere else. Genius. |

Re: Syphilis Part 2
Secondary syphilis is really bad and will cause so many problems. Whats crazy is that it is totally cureable with 2 gm. injections of PCN (penicillin). There are other BSAB (Broad Spectrum AntiBiotics) that can kill this bug. A simple blood test called an RPR can easily Dx this disease. Most ignore secondary syphilis because sometimes the signs and symptoms are benign. Usually the rash on the bottoms of the feet and soles of the hands are RED FLAGS. Prostitutes and high risk drug users are statistically the most common people Dx with syphilis. I used to work at an STD clinic for the US Navy and had to conduct many contact interviews with the patients. Hopefully to get follow on care to the partners who contracted and unknowingly are spreading the disease. Hope that this may give some insight. |

Re: Syphilis Part 2
I live in Alabama, supposedly, we have a huge problem with this. I don't think I have it or anything but how would you know if you have it if you don't have symptoms? Is there anything to look out for?

Re: Syphilis Part 2
The initial signs/symptoms to look out for.. A painless, ulcerated lesion (red in the middle with white borders), typically very small (smaller than a dime), on the genitalia, tongue, or fingers. It typically last about 2-4 weeks then goes away. Usually people go, "Oh, its gone now". Out of sight, out of mind, but still infected.
