Re: Streptococcus Pyrogenes and Necrotised Tissue

Not a stupid question mate. They had to make the four cuts to reduce the swelling and remove the necrotic tissue
That makes sense. Thank you!

From researching I came across that too. But official diagnosis was strep with necrotised tissue. To be honest their guess was as good as mine. Pretty fascinating stuff not “actually knowing” where it officially came from. Some doctors said it could have come from anywhere. A public toilet door for example (I wash my hands haha). But yeah. Am here to tell the tale so that’s all that matters

Re: Streptococcus Pyrogenes and Necrotised Tissue

My son got a chest infection and went to hospital. After he got better we were playing around and he slightly scratched me on my middle finger. It’s the only link I have. The docs and surgeons were also a bit baffled.
Sounds like the typical community aquired infection. I wonder how much and what kind of resistance S. pyrogenes throws at common antibotics if any.

Penicillin and OxyContin 4 times a day for 2 weeks. High as a kite but seemingly did the trick. Very good question though. I was on Cephalexin originally for the first few days and all it did was stop it spreading, didn’t kill the actual infection off. So had to take it to the next level haha. Quite interesting what works and doesn’t with different people.

I assumed it was compartment syndrome based on the nature of the incisions. Looks pretty gnarly. Thank you for sharing, and glad you're doing better.

So true mate. Didn’t see it that way. Might get a tattoo of his gloves haha
