STEVEN JOHNSON SYNDROM
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a life-threatening condition affecting the skin in which cell death causes the epidermis to separate from the dermis. The syndrome is thought to be a hypersensitivity complex affecting the skin and the mucous membranes. Although the majority of cases are idiopathic, the main class of known causes is medications, followed by infections and rarely cancers. - If you can't take seeing fucked up eyes, then don't look.  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

That is terrible. I think i would just tell them to kill me. I recently took an antibiotic and read the drug information and this disease was mentioned. Rare for people to be allergic to antibiotics but it can happen. Very scary  |

Stevens-Johnson syndrome as the OP stated is an allergic reaction. There are particular drugs (such as phenytoin (an anti-epileptic)) that have a small risk of causing this disease. While the skin condition looks terrible, it typically re-grows without leaving a scar. Aside from risk of death due to fluid losses and secondary bacterial infection, the most feared complication has to do with the inflammatory reaction that also includes the eyes, possibly leading to permanent blindness. An even worse variant of Stevens-Johnson is Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis which just means that more of the body's total skin surface is involved.
