If I HAD to guess, I'd say it was a good 40S&W JHP. 45ACP is too bulky to properly expand like that in such a small amount of flesh and 9mm is much to fast to expand like that in the same amount of flesh. 40S&W has less speed than 9mm and less mass than 45ACP, so it'd have a much better chance at expanding properly.  |

Just found a good picture of various calibers side by side in ballistic gel. Both 9mm rounds had minimal expansion, and 45ACP expanded good, but expanded at about 3 inches in I'd guess, while the 165 grain 40S&W got to maximum expansion relatively "shallow" in the gel, and produced a GREAT channel for maximum trauma. I LOVE 40S&W, such an awesome/destructive round.  · |
