Pictures of Alcoholic Cirrhosis
Ok, so, this man was found on an abandoned house when some pedestrians found him there. He had no identificaion. The room was filled with beer bottles and the room smelled like urine and alcohol, or so the police told us so. When he arrived to us, his abdomen presented something we call "ascites", which is an accumulation of liquid (which is not suppose to be there in the first place) in the peritoneal cavity that had to be drained out. Usually, ascites is a sign of hepatic failure. You can see some of the ascitic orange liquid beneath his small intestine. When searching for the liver, we found it be in a fibrotic state. In healthy people, the liver is suppose to look like... a liver that you buy in a food market; dark red, soft, nice and smooth. It's not suppose to look like this: This is what a fibrotic liver looks like. It can be cause by many things, but due to the information we had on this man, it was most likely to be an alcohol induced cirrhosis. This is my first post, be gentle and enjoy. |
