This, depending on your pain tolerance it can feel extremely good Though for the most part it's easy to spot the ones who do it for pleasure from the ones who want attention, since the attention wanters always do small scratches that barely break the skin |

It's twisted, yes, but it does release endorphins, which do help. The only problem is it's the wrong way and people aren't the only ones who do this, you see it frequently in stressed birds. I have terrible anxieties and developed picking and scratching as a way to cope when I was a child and it evolved into cutting as I aged. I've for the most part managed to wean myself off of cutting, but I still scratch and I struggle with the urges every day. Problem is, most the time I don't even know I'm doing it until it's done. |
