not everyone cuts themselves to die, its also can just be a way of coping.and its not all for attention... its not always easy to get help either. you people who automatically think its to die or for attention are dumb and really must never have had anything traumatic happen to you. grow a brain. sure some people do do it for those reasons but its stupid and dick to just assume and judge sometimes the only way people can find help is to share pictures like this.

Sadly many people use cutting as a form of attention nowadays. As a past cutter I can tell you I went to great lengths to hide it all and did it in places no one would ever see anyway. Cutting can be an addition just like an eating disorder or drugs. Some do it for the release of endorphins, some do it because they're numb to the world and want to just feel something. Others do it as a form of self-punishment. Not all cutters are suicidal. Posting it all over the internet is weird to me, and definitely a cry for help/attention.

People self mutilate for different reasons, so please don't lump all of us into one category. Those who do it in obvious places and don't bother to hide it but flaunt it instead are annoying and attention whores, I'll agree with you guys on that.

But please realize not everyone who cuts is like that. Don't be so general in your statements.

I've been such a dumb bitch about this whole thing.

I used to just scratch the skin but recently tried cutting..and I can tell you I just fucked up my arm and am going to have to wear long sleeves on my wedding day. I am so angry with myself that I just fucked up my arm for some shit I'm in therapy for. So yesterday I saw my therapist and said that I will do whatever it take to stop this bullshit self-harm. I'm determined to do something so I don't fuck myself up any more. Its not just me who will see the scars, it will be my boyfriend too and its not worth seeing him wince every time he catches sight of them.

my boyfriend's young cousin recently started cutting himself, come to find out some of his so called older friends were molesting him and when noone would believe him started cutting. he ended up in the hospital for almost two weeks due to how severe the cuts were. poor baby should have come to me, I would have believed him.
