Re: Newborn Baby Infected With The Herpes Simplex Virus
I was N-O-T defending the actions of one sick motherfucker, I was speaking out against the blanket statement that basically said this is what Judaism is about. This is what all Jews do, this is normal procedure for a Bris, this is how all Rabbis do it. That's like saying every Catholic priest is a pedophile. I mean wench mentioned Jews practicing black magic, what the mother of all fucks? This particular rabbi, and anyone who adheres to whatever the hell he teaches, are blights on the Earth to do something so repulsive to the most innocent of all God's creatures, anyone who pulls this shit should be arrested for child molestation, and you honestly think I was saying "Oh sure, this is fine, no problem, STD's might just be a minor side affect"? Are you fucking serious?????? You didn't jump to conclusions, you frigging bungee jumped to them. |

Re: Newborn Baby Infected With The Herpes Simplex Virus
I don't know if this is the same baby, but, it's a story about the same thing. Religious Circumcision Ritual Leaves Another Jewish Baby With Herpes By Reuven Blau New York Daily News December 24, 2014 City health officials believe the baby boy got sick as a result of a centuries-old ritual known as metzizah b'peh practiced by some ultra-Orthodox Jews. Another newborn boy has contracted herpes after a controversial Jewish circumcision ritual — the fourth case this year and the 17th since 2000, city health officials said Wednesday. The baby was rushed to the hospital 12 days after undergoing the ancient ritual, known as metzitzah b’peh, which involves cleaning the circumcision wound by oral suction. The unidentified boy has recovered, but two of the other infected infants since 2000 died, and at least two suffered brain damage. The oral suction ritual is practiced by a small number of ultra-Orthodox Jews. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that it is performed 3,600 times a year in New York city. Some Orthodox rabbis contend there's no medical proof that babies can became sick due to the circumcisions. In the latest case, however, the Health Department said the newborn’s symptoms, the timing of the herpes outbreak and laboratory confirmation of the herpes simplex type 1 virus, “are consistent,” with transmission as a result of the oral suction procedure. The new case was first reported by Capital New York. In 2012, under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the city enacted a regulation requiring that anyone who performs the ritual obtain a signed consent form from parents acknowledging the potential health risks. Butb the regulation is nearly impossible to enforce and it is often ignored. In the latest case, it was not immediately clear whether the person who conducted the circumcision obtained a signed consent form. As a candidate, Bill de Blasio voiced dissatisfaction with the 2012 regulation. He vowed to, “change the policy and find a way to protect all the children but also respect religious tradition ... and come in Day 1 to City Hall with a new policy that is fair.” Some ultra-Orthodox Jews took de Blasio's remarks as a sign that he was sympathetic to their concerns the regulation was an unnecessary intrusion. A year has passed since he took office, but de Blasio has not yet come up with a new policy. Re: Newborn Baby Infected With The Herpes Simplex Virus
From SaschaVykos' link: Israel’s Chief Rabbinate Says Oral Suction at Circumcision is Preferred The practice of, 'metzitzah b'peh,' in which blood is sucked orally from the circumcision wound, is under scrutiny in Germany, due to a complaint filed against a Berlin rabbi for allegedly committing bodily harm during a brit milah. circumcision By JTA 24.04.13 Israel's chief rabbinate has weighed in on the practice of a controversial circumcision rite in Germany, saying that metzitzah b'peh is preferred. The practice, in which blood is sucked orally from the circumcision wound, is under scrutiny in Germany, due to a complaint filed against a Berlin rabbi for allegedly committing bodily harm during a brit milah. Rabbi Moshe Morsiano, chair of the Division of Circumcision for the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, emphasized in a letter dated April 22, that there is no justification for avoiding metzitzah b'peh, "unless the mohel has a sore in his mouth, or some infectious disease." The letter was addressed to Rabbi Yehudah Teichtal, who heads Chabad Lubavitch in Berlin and is one of several official rabbis in the city. Teichtal requested the response after an anti-circumcision activist filed charges against him, claiming oral suction was performed at the brit milah of Teichtal's son. Berlin's state prosecutor is looking into the merits of the case. Germany's new law regulating ritual circumcision, passed in December, requires that the procedure be done to the highest possible medical standards. Metzitzah b'peh has come under fire by many Jewish groups, including modern Orthodox associations, due to the possible spread of infections that can be fatal to an infant. Opponents recommend the use of a pipette. In New York, at least 11 boys contracted herpes from the practice between 2004 and 2011, according to New York City health officials. Two died from the disease and two others suffered brain damage. Last September, the board of health voted 9-0 to require mohels to obtain signed consent forms from parents. In his letter responding to Teichtal's query, Morsiano concluded that, "this committee requires that the mohel obtain the family’s permission before performing this act in the traditional manner." The Israeli chief rabbinate was the latest of several international Orthodox rabbinical organizations to weigh in on the matter. Its support of the tradition reflects that of the Brussels-based Rabbinical Council of Europe. On the other hand, the London-based Conference of European Rabbis issued a statement saying that the use of pipettes is approved under Jewish law and preferable, for health reasons. The Central Council of Jews in Germany followed suit. Meanwhile, Teichtal has not commented on whether the tradition was followed at his son's brit milah.
