Now I'm convinced it's something from the weasel family.

Compared with civets and a marten:

You might be on to something there. The front shoulders are not from a bear and I think too small for a dog compared to it's hind quarters.

Animals with the mange will sometimes surprise you though.

I watched a documentary about the "chuckacabra" (sp?) months ago and that was what they had found in that show.

It is a very sick red panda. Some disease that makes it shed all it's hair at once. Maybe Alopecia or some other shedding disorder.
